Komphela: Chiefs Had A Bad Day In The Office...

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela, is looking to get a response from his troops after their 'bad day in the office' display in the Soweto Derby defeat at the weekend.

Chiefs were completely outplayed by a more determined Orlando Pirates in their league encounter on Saturday, losing the Soweto Derby 3-1.

The loss is their first in the PSL this season and Komphela has indicated that his team just had an off day and will be hoping to rectify their mistakes ahead of their PSL encounter with Golden Arrows tomorrow and the Telkom Knockout semi-final against Bucs on the weekend.

“We had a bad day in the office. My compliments go to Orlando Pirates. Pirates played with high energy, they realised that they had to win,” Komphela told Soccer Laduma.

“Not that we didn’t want to win, but we didn’t exert ourselves enough. It’s never easy to lose a match, certainly not a Derby.

“When they got the ball, their transition forward was fast, with the intent to hit. Instead, we took it a bit slow in the transition. We have to go back to the drawing board and rectify this.”

Looking ahead to the Amakhosi’s upcoming midweek fixture against Arrows, Komphela says his side will be looking to respond to their disappointing showing on the weekend.

“Serame is a scholar of the game. Each time we lose a match, the stakes get higher. It’s important that we respond to the set-back,” Komphela said.
