Komphela: The Difference Between Memela And Makola…
Steve Komphela Has Commented On Orlando Pirates Substitutions In Luvoyo Memela And Mpho Makola
Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela has explained what he thinks the individual differences Luvoyo Memela and Mpho Makola made when they were introduced in to the encounter.
Memela was substituted in to the encounter in place of Bernard Morrison in the second half of the Soweto derby yesterday, where he scored Orlando Pirates’ second goal with his first touch.
Speaking to the media after Chiefs 3-1 loss to Pirates on Saturday, Komphela discussed whether the Bucs had a stronger bench of substitutions compared to Chiefs, adding that the likes of Memela and Makola contributed differently to the encounter.
“I spoke to Memela and congratulated him for scoring a goal in the first touch, listen it doesn’t happen too often in matches of this calibre and comparing benches of both teams, it would you to tally that, take Khuzwayo and put him against Mabokgwane and take whoever and put him against this one,” Komphela told the media.
“First, the benches how they were, it was Makola, Memela or whatever, is it an offensive bench? Is it a defensive bench? And then you go to individual players, if you got defender to defender, striker to striker and all those, but it is nice that they introduced Memela and he scored a goal. I wouldn’t want to ask about Makola because now I would be questioning people’s ability and decisions.”
“The difference between Makola and Memela is that Memela scored, it ignited the game, could the same be said about Makola? No not exactly. I need to be very careful in answering because I know that it is going to be printed and goes out there and the kid reads it and then he (sees) the Chiefs coach lambasting him and I worked with the kid so we have to be very careful how we say things because we respond based on the question,” he added.
