Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker was delighted after his side defeated Mamelodi Sundowns and the reserves clinch the DStv Diski Challenge title.
The reserve side secured their first Diski title on Saturday afternoon, before the first team secured a 3-0 win over the Brazilians at TUKS Stadium.
"What a massive day for the football club, to have our DDC [DStv Diski Challenge] team crowned champions and to come and beat the champions," Barker told SuperSport after the match.
"To put the performance that we did, credit must go to everyone, from the management, right through the whole club, the players, I thought they put out a good performance.
"Absolutely brilliant the way he [Du Preez] took his chances, he's difficult to play against once there's space behind to attack," he continued.
"We knew Sundowns do play a high line and push numbers and we wanted to get in behind which worked today, so massive credit to Ashley for taking those two goals.
"It's a goal also of great quality [by Adams], great vision, two youngsters scoring three goals against Sundowns, both from Idas Valley, both from Stellenbosch, just a great day for this football club."
The Stellies tactician claims there is still an outside chance of finishing in the top four despite already meeting their objective.
"That was our objective [to finish in the top eight], I'm really proud of what we achieved, we have one more game, big derby against Cape Town City, so ja let's bring it on.
"Publicly it was always top eight [ambition] but deep within our soul and our heart we believed that if we finish the league strongly, there's an outside possibility of a top-four finish," he added.
