It’s been confirmed to the Siya crew that a Zimbabwean international has officially parted ways with Stellenbosch FC.
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger, Ovidy Karuru joined Stellies back in January this year after leaving AmaZulu FC where he spent over two years of his professional career.
The 31-year-old signed a short-term deal with Steve Barker’s side at the time, making 10 domestic appearances in all competitions for the second half of the 2019/20 campaign.
However, the Siya crew has since learnt that his stay with Stellies has come to an end after the club opted against renewing his contract at the end of the season.
As reported earlier today by the Siya crew, in addition to bolstering their squad with the signatures of Sage Stephens and Zitha Macheke, Stellenbosch have also tied down Asavela Mbekile and Granwald Scott.
Indications are that the Western Cape outfit are not yet done with making the necessary changes to their squad for the new 2020/21 season and it remains to be seen who they will look to - in order to provide cover following Karuru’s departure.
