Teams: Moroka Swallows v Maritzburg United
Date: 21 September 2013
Venue: Dobsonville Stadium
Both Moroka Swallows and Maritzburg United go into today's clash, fresh from having good mid-week victories, and will want to build on that momentum.
Swallows beat current leaders Supersport United 2-1 in an away clash to climb to second on the PSL log with 10 points, while Maritzburg's 2-0 home victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces, saw them rise to ninth with seven points.
Swallows have historically had the better of their opponents in their head-to-head record, and in the last fifteen clashes between these two sides, have won nine of the matches, compared to Maritzburg's four. There have only been two draws in that time.
However in last year's PSL clash at Dobsonville Stadium, Maritzburg walked away with the three points with a 3-1 win, and the Kwazulu-Natal club, who are yet to get an away win this season, will hope for a similar scoreline.
But for the Team of Choice to achieve that, they are going to have to subdue in-form Edward Manqele, who currently tops the PSL goalscorer charts with four goals, and who looks to be regaining his form of two seasons ago since joining the Dube Birds on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Moroka Swallows have named an unchanged starting XI from their mid-week game, while Maritzburg have brought in Mohammed Awal and Philani Zulu for Rhys Evans and Ryan De Jongh.
This is how they line-up:
Moroka Swallows: Greg Etafia, Luvhengo Mungomeni, Roger Da Costa, Larry Cohen, Levy Mokgothu, Asavela Mbekile, Lefa Tsutsulupa, Giorgi Nergadze, Lerato Chabangu, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Edward Manqele
Maritzburg United: Shu-Aib Walters, Thamsanqa Mkhize, Ruben Cloete, Mario Booysen, Robyn Johannes, Michael Morton, Mohammed Awal, Philani Zulu, Ashley Hartog, Yakubu Mohammed, Ayanda Nkosi
