Telkom Knockout Cup
Teams: Polokwane City v Kaizer Chiefs
Date: 5 October 2013
Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
PSL Champions Kaizer Chiefs start as clear favourites against recently promoted Polokwane City, in their round of sixteen Telkom Knockout Cup clash tonight at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Amakhosi's last match saw them draw 1-1 with Orlando Pirates, as they were knocked out in the semi-finals of the MTN8, after losing the first-leg, but they were unbeaten in September, with two wins and two draws in all competitions.
On the other hand Polokwane City only got their first win in their last match almost two weeks ago, a home victory in the league against struggling Ajax Cape Town, after losing all their previous games this season.
The rookies, who fired their coach Duncan Lechesa in September and are currently being led by caretaker coach Eduardo Langer Schoeler until a permanent coach is hired, will know they have a mountain to climb if they are to knockout Chiefs, and will try to take advantage of any complacency shown by their rivals.
But Stuart Baxter has said that Chiefs will not be taking City lightly, and expects his team to be focussed.
The clubs last met in March this year, in a Nedbank Cup clash, where Chiefs won 2-0.
Chiefs will be without their injured star Siphiwe Tshabalala, while Thapelo Tshilo and Esau Kanyenda are doubtful for City.
