2013 AFCON Semi-Final
Teams: Mali v Nigeria
Date: 6 February 2013
Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium
Nigeria will be looking to build on their superb 2-1 win over tournament favourites Ivory Coast by overcoming Mali and booking a place in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Victory will not come easy though, with the sturdy Eagles having dumped out tournament hosts South Africa via a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals.
Mali struggled to contain Bafana Bafana in the opening half of that game, but showed spirit to net an equaliser after the break and held their nerve in the shootout.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured third place at four of the last six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, but will be hoping to secure the crown for the first time in 19 years.
Mali continued from where they left off in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon last year, where they finished in third place.
They will be hoping that star midfielder Seydou Keita, formerly of Barcelona, will continue his sensational form after he bagged the equaliser against Bafana and put on yet another superb display.
Standard Bank Key Man: Emmanuel Emenike. The Nigerian forward tucked away the opening goal against Ivory Coast and got into the right places to get a number of good opportunities. The forward will also be looking to take the lead in the race for the Golden Boot.
This is how they line up:
Mali: Mamadou Samassa, Fousseiny Diawara, Adama Tamboura, Mahamadou N'Diaye, Molla Wague, Momo Sissoko, Mahamane Traore, Kalilou Traore, Seydou Keita, Modibo Maiga, Mahamadou Samassa.
Nigeria: Vincent Enyeama, Elderson Echiejile, Kenneth Omeruo, Godfrey Oboabona, Efe Ambrose, Sunday Mba, Ogenyi Onanzi, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Brown Ideye, Emmanuel Emenike.
