Libya will be looking to put in a better performance than their first time in 2009 when they failed to make it past the group stages and pick up a win against debutants Ethiopia in their Group C clash at the Free State Stadium kicking-off at 20:00.
The Mediterranean Knights automatically qualified for this year’s tournament when their opponents Algeria withdrew from the competition after failing to qualify in 2011 when they were eliminated by Nigeria.
Ethiopia will be making their first appearance at the African Nations Championship after they defeated Rwanda 6-5 on penalties in the qualifiers to enter the round of 16 after the two legged tie was deadlocked at 1-1.
Sewnet Bishaw’s side are currently ranked 93 in the FIFA ranking table and were on the brink of qualifying for the 2014 Fifa World Cup before they were knocked out by Nigeria.
