Group C of the CAF African Championship kicks off when the Black Stars of Ghana take on Congo Brazzaville’s Red Devils at the Free State Stadium with kick-off taking place at 17:00.
Ghana qualified for the tournament without having to kick a ball when their opponents in the qualifiers Benin, withdrew from the competition because of problems with their Football Federation.
The local Black Stars team will be amongst the favourites in the competition and are expected to top Group C and go on to pick up a first CAF African Championship trophy.
Their opponents Congo Brazzaville will be making their debut in the tournament and will have something to prove after missing the qualification spot to the World Cup play-offs to Burkina Faso.
The debutants also boast 10 players from the camp of 2012 Caf Confederations Cup winners, AC Leopards making them a tough opponent.
