Teams: Chippa United v MP Black Aces
Date: 26 June 2013
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
Chippa United will be looking to take a step toward retaining their Absa Premiership status when they host Mpumalanga Black Aces for the penultimate promotion/relegation playoff match at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Chilli Boys, who finished second from bottom in the PSL during the 2012/13 campaign, gave their hopes of staying in the top flight a much-needed boost with a 1-0 win over fellow Capetonians Santos on the weekend.
Andile Mbenyane’s deflected strike was enough for Mark Harrison’s side to pick up maximum points and close to within two of mini-league leaders Aces, who have racked up two wins from two and boast six points.
Santos, who are bottom of the log with just one point, have been eliminated.
The bad news for Chippa is that even a victory might not be enough to secure a place in next season’s Premiership.
Even though a win would see Chippa take the lead on seven points were they to beat Aces, the Mpumalanga side will have the chance to reclaim pole position in the final match against Santos on June 29.
As it stands, Aces need only a point to qualify for next season’s PSL.
Here is how they line-up.
Chippa: Tashrique Goldman, Vuyisile Ntombayithethi, Rudiger Gilbert, Msekeli Mvalo, James Okwuosa, Issa Sarr, Asavela Mbekile, William Twala, Sindiso Nqothani, Andile Mbenyane, Petrus Ngebo
Aces: Bafana Nhlapo, Mohau Motaung, Enrico Adolph, Zamoxolo Ngalo, Thabang Rooi, Sandile Zuke, Setjhaba Mmuso, Tshidiso Mosikidi, Esau Mtsweni, Diyo Sibisi, Thabo Qalinge
