African Nations Championship
Teams: South Africa v Nigeria
Date: 19 January 2014
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
South Africa and Nigeria meet in the final round of Group A CHAN matches at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday night, with the match being a must-win affair, especially for the Nigerian side.
Leading Group A after two games, a draw would be enough for Bafana Bafana to qualify for the knockout rounds alongside second-placed Mali, who play Mozambique at the same time at the Athlone Stadium.
Mali are expected to beat Mozambique, who are bottom of the group after losing both of their games so far, and are already out of the running.
Bafana were hit with a setback prior to the game, when captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was ruled out with an ankle injury.
Thabo Nthethe will captain the team in his absence, while Moeneeb Josephs replaces Khune in goal.
Nigeria, who have conceded four goals in their opening two games, have had goalkeeping problems of their own, with Chigozie Agbim accepting the blame for conceding so many.
But he is expected to keep his place in the team, with the only other options being the inexperienced Daniel Akpeyi, and 17 year old Dele Alampasu, who many in Nigeria believe was only selected to experience the senior set-up, and not to play.
There are a number of changes to the Bafana line-up from the Mali game. Josephs is in goal to replace the injured Khune, Tebogo Langerman comes in for Thato Mokeke, Tefu Mashamaite replaces Buhle Mkhwanazi and Sibusiso Vilakazi comes in for Edward Manqele.
This is how they line-up:
South Africa: Moeneeb Josephs, Vuyo Mere, Tebogo Langerman, Thabo Nthethe [c], Tefu Mashamaite, Hlompho Kekana, Matty Pattison, Lindokuhle Mbatha, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Bernard Parker, Siphiwe Tshabalala
