ABSA Premiership
Teams: Ajax Cape Town v Mamelodi Sundowns
Date: 17 September 2013
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
Ajax host unbeaten Sundowns this evening at a chilly Cape Town Stadium, the home side still seeking their first win of the season.
Ajax suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Wits last Friday, while Sundowns last played a game 18 days ago, when they beat Golden Arrows 1-0. Ajax will be able to relate to their opponents' inactive frustrations, having suffered a similar predicament last month.
The Urban Warriors are currently 14th on the ABSA Premiership log with just one point from three games, while Downs are third with seven points from the same amount of games.
Historically they have a very close league head-to-head record since Ajax were formed in 1999.
Sundowns are just ahead in the number of wins, with ten victories compared to nine, while the sides have drawn nine times.
Having recently moved to Sundowns, Khama Billiat wlll make his first return to Cape Town to play against his former side, while Eleazar Rodgers, who joined Ajax on loan from Sundowns in the same deal, will play against the team he signed for only a year ago from Santos.
Former Golden Arrows defender Ritus Krjauklis and Bantu Mzwakali, from last season's Ajax under 19 team, are set to debut for Ajax tonight. Punch Masenamala makes a return to the Sundowns line-up after a long term injury.
This is how they line-up:
