Stars ‘Keeper Secures Shock English Move
He may have only played five games in all competitions for Free State Stars last season, but Christoffer Mafoumbi has landed himself a shock move to England.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper was picked up by Stars in August last year from Bulgarian outfit, FK Verega Stara Zagora, however battling with an Achilles injury that meant his debut only arrived in February.
Now, having left Ea Lla Koto at the end of June, the French-born Congolese international has secured himself a move to English side, Blackpool, signing a two-year deal with the League One outfit.
After completing the move – subject to receiving his international clearance – Mafoumbi told the club’s official website, “I’m very happy and feeling good here. It’s my first time in England and I’m happy to sign for Blackpool.”
The ‘keeper was unable to work his way past Thela Ngobeni in the Stars’ goal under Giovani Solinas and Serame Letsoaka last season but will be hoping for better look in the UK.
