Stiga's Advice To Jordan

After winning the Player of the Tournament gong at the recently completed Safa U17 National Championship, Liam Jordan appears to be a name that South African fans must look out for in future.

At times the Wits youth product was streets ahead of many of the players he came up against in that tournament. His technical ability and vision seemed at an incredibly advanced stage for a 15-year-old. He also played a major role in helping Wits U17s beat Kaizer Chiefs U17s 3-0 in the final.

Jordan, the son of the late former PSL star, Keryn Jordan, assisted two of the three goals scored and generally looked head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. Incredibly, he was even taking free-kicks with the high level technique used by the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Siya crew has previously reported that the teenager's obvious potential has been spotted by the Clever Boys technical team and management. The teenager has spent time training with both the Wits reserve and first teams.

Nonetheless, despite it appearing a star is clearly on the rise in Johannesburg, Wits' Head of Scouting and former PSL star, Stanton Fredericks, has urged Jordan to stay humble and focused as he continues his development.

'Stiga' told the crew, "I actually spoke to him before the tournament. I said, 'I know it's too easy for you at this level but don't get into bad habits. You know when it's too easy then you can take it too easy. You rely on pressing the turbo button only now and again. He's definitely looks like he's got the lot. But what I don't want is the hype around him for his sake - then you have to deal with your ego. He doesn't have that at the moment. He's very grounded, hardworking and he stays after training. But, he's definitely special."
