A goalkeeper in Mzansi’s top flight has officially parted ways with his club after a three-year stay.
Sage Stephens, who’s been on the books of Cape Town City since August 2017, has said his final goodbyes to his teammates after his contract with the Citizens has come to an end.
The 29-year-old has made 38 domestic appearances for the Mother City-based club, though has been second-choice over the past two seasons as Peter Leeuwenburg established himself as City’s number one
As reported in the past by the Siya crew, the goalkeeper was linked with a move to Stellenbosch FC, with the Western Cape-outfit also looking to bolster their goalkeeping department following the exit of Boy de Jong earlier this year.
However, it remains to be seen where the goalkeeper will end up in the coming days.
The 2020/21 season is expected to get underway in the middle of October, however, it was initially scheduled to kick-off on October 09 but FIFA have already jotted down October 07-15 as official dates for international matches.
