SuperSport United players will wear pink armbands throughout the length of October as they look to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Matsatsantsa wore the armbands for the first time in the recent 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town in the Telkom Knockout and will continue to don them for the next three weeks.
Meanwhile, in another attempt to get behind the cause, the SuperSport franchise as a whole will take part in the iThemba walkathon, a walk against breast cancer, on 23 October 2013 at the Marks Park Sports Complex.
The club’s head coach, Cavin Johnson, spoke of his pride at being part of the effort. He said, “We are delighted to be playing a part in the fight against breast cancer as a football club. There is so much that we can still do, but we are making an effort and I think the armbands is a step in the right direction for us to show that we on board for the fight against breast cancer.”
SuperSport’s next game will see them take on Moroka Swallows in the quarterfinals of the TKO when they will once again be showing their support by wearing the pink bands on their sleeves.
