After months of speculation, SuperSport United coach, Gavin Hunt, has finally announced that he will be leaving Matsatsantsa a Pitori.
The Siya crew revealed many months ago that the Matsatsantsa coach was being eyed up by The Clever Boys and it was recently reported by Soccer-Laduma that the deal was all but done.
Now, during a SuperSport press conference held in Randburg, Johannesburg, the club have finally announced that their long-term head coach will indeed be leaving the club, however it remains to be seen who will be coming in to replace him.
SuperSport's Director of Football, Stan Matthews, announced that Hunt requested to leave the club, while heaping praise on Hunt’s achievements with the Tshwane-based outfit. Matthews went on to wish Hunt well in his future adventures.
Hunt admitted that it is sad day in his career, although said that he believes it is time for a new challenge. He said at the conference, “I am doing this with a very heavy heart.”
He went on, “ A change is good for me in this time of my life. I am thankful for everything that the club has done for me.”
When asked where his future lies, Hunt said that it would be revealed in due course, not wanting to take attention away from his departure at SuperSport.
