SuperSport United’s decision to halt their assessment of a midfielder who recently became a free agent has parachuted Kaizer Chiefs into being favourites to sign him.
According to high-ranking sources, the Glamour Boys have officially joined the race to try lure Seth Parusnath to Naturena, although several other clubs in the Premier Soccer League are also said to be keen on the ex-Golden Arrows player.
He missed just two of his former club’s DStv Premiership matches last season, so it did come as a shock when he was allowed to leave on a free.
The Siya crew reported last week that Parusnath was being assessed by SSU coach Kaitano Tembo with the hopes of signing him if he impressed.
But after one week, the player is no longer training with the club, with Stan Matthews, the CEO, indicating that Parusnath will be left to assess his options with his representatives.
"Yes Brandon (Seth) trained with us last week and now he is discussing his options with his agent so I can’t comment more than that at this time," Matthews told the Siya crew when contacted for comment.
Chiefs have recently parted company with veteran Willard Katsande, with confirmation expected soon, and as such coach Stuart Baxter will be looking for reinforcements as addition to the arrival of Cole Alexander.
The Siya crew has it on good authority that SSU were prepared to make an offer to Parusnath, but the Chiefs interest suggests there could be a bidding war, given that the player is currently a free agent – but the Tshwane side aren’t keen on a price tussle.
