Daniye Primary Jetting Off To Nigeria

Winners of the 2013 Nestlé MILO National Champions Tournament, Daniye Primary School from Thulamahashe in Mpumalanga, will today leave for Nigeria.

The champions will take part in the Nations Nestlé MILO African Champions Tournament which was hosted by South Africa in 2010, Ghana in 2012 and is now set to be staged in Lagos, Nigeria.

According to the statement from Nestle South Africa, Daniye Primary School will join other national winners from Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya at the tournament that will be hosted at Campos Square on Lagos Island from 29 - 31 May.

“We would like to thank Nestlé MILO for this great tournament that will give our learners an opportunity to interact with other children from different countries. It is a privilege for our team to participate, we are sure to gain valuable life skills from this experience,” said Lodrick Khoza, Daniye Primary School U/13 coach.

The primary school beat Dumelang Primary School also from Mpumalanga District 5-4 in the 2013 finals, to clinch the Championship Title and the opportunity to participate in the Pan-African tournament.

“Reaching this milestone is a direct result of the dedication and commitment shown by our team. Our preparations for the tournament in Nigeria have gone very well and the team is excited about the experience of traveling beyond the borders of South Africa for the first time in their lives,” concluded coach Khoza.

The tournament was initiated by Nestlé MILO, in partnership with the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), rolled out the tournament aiming to develop the youth through sport and encouraging them to lead healthy, balanced and active lifestyles.

“Hosting the bi-annual tournament in different countries on the continent has enabled us to create more awareness about the benefits of healthy living. It has also contributed to unearthing talent and passion for the game of football among young children in Africa and to grow the football stars of tomorrow. "

"We wish Daniye Primary School all of the best with their participation in the Nestlé MILO African Champions Tournament,” said Mpho Toolo, Nestlé South Africa Business Executive Manager for Dairy.

“SASFA is delighted to contribute together with our esteemed partner Nestlé to be creating dreams and opportunities for learners from a rural background to take on the best that Africa has to offer. We are confident that Daniye Primary will be good ambassadors on and off the field of play,” said an elated Mandla 'Shoes' Mazibuko, SASFA President.
