South African Football Legends Set For Soweto Derby Lunch
South African football legends are planning a reunion for the upcoming Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi and The Buccaneers will play their first Absa Premiership match of the season at FNB Stadium on October 21.
South African Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLFA) have issued a statement confirming details of the planned lunch.
Football Legends to host Soweto Derby Lunch
The likes of Pollen Ndlanya, Jerry Sikhosana, Cyril Nzama, Thabo Mooki, Gardener Seale, Ronny Zondi, Sunday Masegela, Lucas Radebe, Phil Masinga, Magents Motale and a host of other legends will be hosting tables at the Soweto Derby Lunch slated for Saturday 21 October 2017 prior to the big PSL match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium.
The event will see some of these legends talking about playing in the famous Soweto Derby and about the rivalry that still exists today between them, despite hanging up their boots some time back already.

The lunch is hosted by the SAFA recognised, South African Masters & Legends Football Association (SAMLFA), to launch a programme aimed at recognising the contribution made by retired and past football players since the dawn of professional football in the country.
SAMFLA will also launch the 'Partner a Legend Coaching Project', as well as the inaugural 'Football Legends Awards' at the event.
According to Buddha Mathathe, SAMLFA President, “The lunch will give guests an insight as to what happens on Derby Day and how families are split when it comes to supporting their favourite teams and players even putting their friendship on hold for weeks”.
The lunch will be held at SAFA House in NASREC and guests will thereafter take a short walk to the FNB Stadium to watch the derby.
