Zakhele Siwela, who has become known for his high standards as an official in the Premier Soccer League, has been selected by FIFA as one of the assistants for the showpiece event, and is the only South African to have made the cut.

In total, 16 referees and assistants have been selected from Africa, and Siwela will be flying the flag high for Mzansi when he takes to the field in the tournament for the first time.

Siwela was rewarded for his efforts domestically in 2016 when he was named as the PSL’s Assistant Referee of the Year, and being called up to the World Cup can now be added to his list of achievements.

The 35-year-old is due to to form a partnership with referee, Janny Sikazwe of Zambia, and Angolan first assistant, Jerson dos Santos.

The tournament gets underway on June 14th in Moscow, although it is as yet unknown which games Siwela will be taking part in.

@Makaveli 99 The fact of the matter is the Fifa rules are available for every one to read .safa gave Ajax the go ahead because they read the Fifa rules .I can unpack it for you .You are not allowed to play for 3 teams in the same association (league) as I can see you are the one who do not know soccer .so Ndoro played for three teams that are in different associations. It's just a matter of time and Ndoro's case will be cleared and no points deduction. In other words he can not play for three teams in south Africa league .so he played for 2 teams in Psl and the other team in Saudi Arebia which is a different association. That is all .

@mrelectronics You don't understand football the reason why the PSL didn't judge this matter is that Ndoro played outside S.A if it was PSL only the matter should have been put to rest already....

I'm sure Fifa could do better in responding to the Ajax case .As I understand Ajax are now being ordered to stop playing Ndoro. In this case it's just few technicalities to be illustrated by fifa .But as I see it Ajax will be safe .The rule says a player can not play for 3 teams in the same association(league) which give Ajax the right to play Ndoro. The third team is from Saudi Arebia another league .only the season and time frame but it's clear as well cause our season and Saudi is different.
