This is the second game for City’s new coach, Boebie Solomons, and believes that his team will come to the party following their brave display in their midweek game against Wits. Rise and Shine, as City is known, played to a 0-0 draw in Johannesburg and he told the Siya crew that his side did exceptionally well.
“I think our game against Wits was a nice one - my challenge was to bring back the confidence and self-belief in the team. The guys played well and we managed to get a result, and we did not concede considering the fact that we played away," he said.
“I hope that will help us going into our encounter against Sundowns tomorrow. We didn’t have much time to prepare for this game. We came back in the early hours of Thursday and only had Friday to discuss our plan for the game, but I have talked about our tactical approach and had a session to discuss a few things this morning,” added the former Santos coach.
Sundowns' last game was against AmaZulu on Tuesday, where they claimed a massive 7-1 win, but Solomons insists that his side will match the Brazilians.
“Sundowns has quality, I cannot dispute that, we respect them but we don’t fear them. We have to be cautious but we will have to fight for three points. My boys played well on Wednesday after a two week break,” concluded Solomons.
