Bloemfontein Celtic take on Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership contest this evening in Bloemfontein.
Siwelele haven’t enjoyed the strongest start to the campaign, whereas Chiefs appeared to be getting back to their best during last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Maritzburg United.
Nonetheless, experienced Celtic assistant coach, Boebie Solomons, believes the club is close to turning the corner.
He told the Siya crew, “The mood is very good even though we haven’t had a great start. I mean we started the same way last season but we finished fifth, and won a cup. Yes, we’ve made some changes and now it’s about getting our rhythm right again.”
Solomons also expressed his belief that beating Chiefs is certainly a possibility.
“Look, Chiefs are a great team. I watched them against Maritzburg United. They’ve got all those international players in their first-11. You must respect that. We do well against a lot of the top teams and I think it’s about time we do well against Chiefs. It’s about time we beat them and get our confidence back,” he said.
He added where he thinks Chiefs might be vulnerable, “This isn’t the same Chiefs as before, hey. They don’t concentrate on possession football so much. What they concentrate on is fast attacks. When they win the ball then they go forward very fast."
"This is a different Chiefs team and they attack in numbers obviously. But they are not very good at transition in defence. That’s where I think we can get them", concluded the 58-year-old.
The action gets underway from 19h30 at Free State Stadium.
