SL Team Of The Week
Soccer Laduma brings you the country's most prestigious and authoritative 'Team of the Week'!
This week's selection is based on performances from the past weekend's MTN8 semi-final first leg fixtures.
Bidvest Wits earned a valuable goal away from home in their first leg encounter against Ajax Cape Town at the Coetzenburg Stadium this past weekend. Toriq Losper gave the home side the lead in the first half however veteran Namibian striker Henrico Botes equalized deep in the second stanza to steal a point for Gavin Hunt's charges ahead of the second leg in Braamfontein on August 30.
In the second semi-final, Bloemfontein Celtic and defending champions Kaizer Chiefs produced a scintillating performance at an action packed Free State Stadium as both sides produced scorchers on either halfs to see the match end 1-1. On loan Orlando Pirates striker Helder Pelembe had given Phunya Sele Sele the lead earlier on in the first half, but the Amakhosi rallied back in the second half as Bernard Parker redeemed himself with a piledriver following his earlier penalty miss, to hand Steve Komphela's side a slide advantage ahead of the second leg on Saturday, August 29.
The team will always be set up in a standard 4-4-2 formation, selected by Soccer Laduma's team of journalists.
Simply put, the 'Team of the Week' reflects the best 11 players that competed during the weekly cycle and is published in the latest Soccer Laduma, out every Wednesday.
