While there have been announcements about extended deals for some players in the top flight, Soccer Laduma takes a look at three big-name players whose futures are being discussed.
As reported in the past week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, Siya sources have revealed that Leonardo Castro, who is in the final six months of his contract with Chiefs, has rejected the club’s latest offer of a new deal.
However, Chiefs could now be forced to table an irresistible offer to the player, as they will not be able to replace him should they lose his services – this due to the current transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA.
Happy Jele is another player from the big three who is in the final six months of his contract at Orlando Pirates. As reported last week, there is an added one-year option set in place on the centre-back’s existing deal although the Bucs are yet to confirm when they will take up the option.
Another player is Thapelo Morena at Mamelodi Sundowns who is currently nursing a long-term injury. As previously reported by the Siya crew, Morena’s contract will come to an end on June 30, this year, however, Siya sources have revealed that despite his current long-term injury, the Brazilians are keen to exercise the option and begin negotiations for a new deal.
Which of the aforementioned players should sign a long-term deal with their respective clubs? Let us know in the comments section below.
