Why Percy Tau and Nascimento Were Sundowns’ Top Players…

Mamelodi Sundowns came from behind to snatch a 2-1 away victory against Baroka FC this weekend and Soccer Laduma takes a look at who their standout players were on the day.

Sundowns gave themselves a comfortable four point lead at the top of the Absa Premiership league standings after recording their third consecutive win on Sunday.

Here are four Sundowns players who, according to the statistics, were instrumental in ensuring that the Brazilians continue to comfortably lead the pack in the Absa Premiership.

Percy Tau:

Tau scored the winning goal on Sunday after Wayne Arendse was able to pull a goal back for the Brazilians who were initially trailing 1-0. Tau had two of his four shots on target, while also assisting three other shots taken by his teammates. The 23-year-old also made 50 touches and had a passing accuracy of 88%.

Tiyani Mabunda:

Mabunda touched the ball 91 times and made 73 successful passes with an accuracy of 88%. 

Ricardo Nascimento:

Nascimento made 42 successful passes, with a passing accuracy of 98%. The Brazilian won 19 balls and made 13 clearances while also being involved in 3 aerial duels. 

Wayne Arendse:

Arendse scored the first goal for Sundowns that saw Masandawana draw level. The centre-back also made 43 out of 43 successful passes, a passing accuracy of 100%

Sundowns will lock horns with Bidvest Wits this Saturday, April 14, in another must-win league encounter for the Brazilians.
