The 22-year-old Mokoena has been one of Head Coach Kaitano Tembo’s key players at SuperSport United, with the midfielder having recently been linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, should the player continue with his performances, Mokoena will look to have a shot at the big award next season, wherever his immediate future may lie.

2017/18 – Siphesihle Ndlovu
Ndlovu is currently on the books of Maritzburg United as they fight to maintain their top-flight status in the promotion/relegation play-offs. The player has been linked with a move to Sundowns in the past.
2016/17 – Phakamani Mahlmabi
After scooping the award while on the books of Bidvest Wits, Mahlambi then headed off to Egypt to join giants, Al Ahly, however, made his return to Mzansi at the beginning of last season where he joined up with Sundowns.
2015/16 – Aubrey Modiba
Modiba was discovered through the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona team search as a graduate, where he joined Mpumalanga Black Aces in 2015 and immediately made his mark in South Africa’s top-flight. Modiba is currently on the books of SuperSport United.
2014/15 – Phumlani Ntshangase
Ntshangase received the Young Player of the Season award while with Wits. The player was sent on loan to SuperSport United for the season.
2013/14 – Keagan Dolly with Ajax Cape Town
Dolly has grown since receiving this award and now plies his trade abroad, with Montpellier in France.
2012/13 – Ronwen Williams
Williams won the award with SuperSport United, and still at Matsatsantsa, picked up the Goalkeeper of the Season award for the 2018/19 campaign.
