Players all over Mzansi’s top-flight saw a big increase in their market value after football made its return following the COVID-19 lockdown. But which 11 players currently form part of the most expensive XI?
According to the German website, transfermarkt.com, SuperSport United goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams is ranked as the most expensive shot-stopper in the DStv Premiership, which subsequently sees him between the sticks in Mzansi’s most expensive XI.
Williams’ market value currently sits at €950 000 (±R17.3 million).
In defence, the back four is currently made up of Mamelodi Sundowns’ Thapelo Morena at right-back, Swallows FC’s Sifiso Hlanti at left-back and a centre-back partnership made up of Orlando Pirates' Thulani Hlatshwayo and Kaizer Chiefs’ Daniel Cardoso.
The midfield three is currently made up of Sundowns’ Andile Jali, SuperSport’s Tebogo Mokoena and Chiefs’ Khama Billiat, with Vincent Pule and Themba Zwane on the wings.
Upfront leading the line is Sundowns’ Gaston Sirino with a market value of €675 000 (±R12.3 million).
