The latest African rankings have been updated, with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs dropping some places behind.
As reported last week, Pirates overtook Chiefs on the ranking system, with the Bucs placed at 18th and Amakhosi at 20th position.
However, after Chiefs took part in the weekend’s Nedbank Cup action, according to transfermarkt.com, Amakhosi are now in 19th place, while Pirates have dropped two places and are now positioned at 20th.
Mamelodi Sundowns, however, remain leading the pack as the highest ranked South African club on the footballdatabase.com system.
Bidvest Wits are also in the top four South African clubs, with the Students coming in at 23rd spot.
Now, it remains to be seen how long it will take Sundowns to return to the top 10 ranked clubs in Africa, and how Chiefs and Pirates will battle it out to get closer to Sundowns on the rankings.
