Xulu Backs Buchanan To Follow His Lead After Amakhosi Exit

Siyanda Xulu is backing Keagan Buchanan to follow in his footsteps by turning his career back around after leaving Kaizer Chiefs for Maritzburg United.
The 26-year-old centre back left the Glamour Boys following a difficult spell at Naturena that saw him make only a handful of appearances, going on to win the Defender of the Season award as he helped the Team of Choice to a record-breaking campaign in the Absa Premiership.
Now, with Buchanan having followed the same path from Soweto through to Pietermaritzburg, his former teammate thinks that Buchanan ‘owes it to himself’ to get back on form in KwaZulu-Natal under Fadlu Davids.
Speaking at the MTN8 launch this week, Xulu said, “Let’s just hope he does the same as what I did last season… He didn’t play for some time, and he needs to bounce back. He owes it to himself. He’s a brilliant player, he just needs time.
“Even myself, I didn’t just join Maritzburg and then have five star performances. He needs some time, but he’s a quality player and we all know that.”
Maritzburg face Golden Arrows on Sunday as they get their 2018/19 campaign underway, with a host of players – including Buchanan – hoping to make their debut in the fixture.
