Ex Chiefs Midfielder Recovering At Bucks

The absence of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Siyabulela Songwiqi, from the line-up at Mthatha Bucks has been explained by the Eastern Cape outfit.

Bucks’ general manager, Lunga Tukute, told the Siya crew that the player is recovering from a long-term injury he suffered during the pre-season with the ABC Motsepe League side.

Kalusha, as Songwiqi is known in football circles, has been with the side since he parted ways with Chiefs at the end of the 2011/12 season.

“Kalusha is still with us. The thing is that he broke a bone somewhere around his ankle during our pre-season. He’s recovering well. He has started training, although he hasn’t started kicking the ball yet. We are hoping that by April he will have started playing,” said Tukute.

The player had been on loan with Santos in the National First Division when the Amakhosi parted ways with him.

Bucks recently signed Mkhanyiseli Siwahla and Welcome Qalanto to boost the team’s chances of gaining promotion to the NFD.
