Dikwena Star: We Have Too Many Good Players
Platinum Stars defender, Siyabonga Zulu, believes they have too many good players to remain in their current predicament and is asking more from them going forward.
Dikwena are currently sitting rock bottom in the Absa Premiership after 10 games, and so far have won just one game in normal time since the start of June earlier this year.
Now, as they prepare to face off against Bloemfontein Celtic this coming week, Zulu thinks that they need to work harder in order to improve things for them as the season progresses.
The 24-year-old said in a statement, “There’s no other way to get out of the situation we are in except to work hard and work together. Everyone has to give 150%. We will go forward. We have the quality that shouldn’t be at the bottom.
“We have too many good players in the team. If the attitude can be right then we will move out of there. Sometimes our attitude is not okay because someone is thinking their own things and they are not doing things the way they should. It starts with training before we go to the game. You have to be 100% tuned in. You can’t prepare for a game from Thursday thinking you will perform on Saturday. From Monday to Friday you have to perform.”
But it’s not just his teammates that he’s expecting more of… The former Chippa United man wants improvements from himself too, pointing out aspects of his game that he needs to work on if he's to help Roger de Sa's side.
He said, “In terms of my performance, I think am not yet there. Maybe I am 84% but I want to give 100% and maybe the team will go far. I want to improve in attack, I want to go forward a lot and I want to improve my crossing. If you look at left backs like Marcelo, Jordi Alba, David Alaba they do well in attack. They also score.”
Zulu has played every minute of Stars’ Absa Premiership campaign so far this season alongside Vuyo Mere and Willem Mwedihanga.
