Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane is seeking a loan move as he has been unable to establish himself at the Buccaneers.
Pirates signed Felipe Ovono in the off season and Mpontshane is now seen to be third choice at Bucs, behind both the Equatoguinean and Brighton Mhlongo, who is expected to return from injury in the near future.
It was expected that Mpontshane would be sent out on loan ahead of the current season, however the club opted to send Philani Zikalala to Golden Arrows instead.
Mpontshane only joined Bucs from Platinum Stars in the January transfer window last season but it seems as though the 29-year-old is not in coach Eric Tinkler’s plans and the latest news reaching the Siya desk has indicated that he is seeking a loan move in January.
“He just wants to be loaned out. He was supposed to have moved this past transfer window, but will now try to move out in January,” a Siya source told Soccer Laduma.
“He has lost his place in the national team and he wants to keep on playing so that he can have a chance of being called up to the national team again.”
Do you think Bucs should let Mpontshane go out on loan or do you think they need him as back up?
