Kaizer Chiefs captain, Siphiwe Tshabalala, seems to be blossoming since being handed the captain’s armband, and has directly contributed to more goals than any other Absa Premiership player.
Tshabalala, who has four goals and assists, has scored or created six goals in the league so far this season, a total tally that is more than anyone else in the division.
While Mpumalanga Black Aces’ Collins Mbesuma is leading the goalscoring charts with five, and his teammate, Tshidiso Tukane, has the most assists (five), ‘Shabba’ leads the way with overall contributions.
The Amakhosi midfielder was given the armband at the start of the season when Tefu Mashamaite left for Sweden, and he seems to have adapted to the responsibility nicely, playing a vital role for his team.
Interestingly, of the seven players that have directly contributed to four or more goals this season (goals/assists), six are over the age of 30, with Andrea Fileccia (24) being the only one who isn’t.
