Kaizer Chiefs’ Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala has sent a message to the Chiefs fans and admitted that he accepts his award with a heavy heart after Amakhosi ended the 2016/17 campaign without any silverware.
Shabba scooped the Player Of The Season, Fan Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer award at the Soweto giants’ annual award ceremony which was held last week, June 01.
As revealed on Chiefs’ official website, Shabba admitted that he accepts the Player of the Season award with a heavy heart after the team’s disappointing season, but has guaranteed the supporters that the Glamour Boys will bounce back next season.
“This is a very emotional moment. It would be selfish now to celebrate too much. I am only winning when the whole team is winning. That’s why I am accepting this award with a heavy heart, because it was a tough season in which we won no silverware,” Tshabalala said on Chiefs’ official website.
“We, as players, need to take the blame. We let our Chairman down, we let our coach down, we let our supporters down, we let our families down and we let ourselves down.”
“We let you (the supporters) down, but you continued to come to our games. We highly value your support. We will take your criticism and, please be assured, we will bounce back next season,” he added.
