Kaizer Chiefs striker, Siphelele Mthembu, thinks that Ajax Cape Town where the better team in the MTN8 final and that Chiefs didn’t do much wrong.
The Amakhosi missed out on getting their hands on the first piece of silverware for the 2015/16 campaign, going down 1-0 to a determined Ajax side in the MTN8 final last Saturday.
Mthembu started the game for Steve Komphela’s side and made way for Camaldine Abraw just after Ajax took the lead in the 55th minute. The striker thinks that his teammates did not do much wrong on the day and credited Ajax for their impressive display.
“It was very sad for us and everyone at the team. I don’t think that we did anything wrong. We did everything that we were supposed to do on the day, but I think it just wasn’t our day.”
“Congratulations to Ajax. They deserved to win the trophy. I think they were the better team on the day,” Mthembu told Soccer Laduma.
Chiefs will be looking to get one over Ajax this weekend when the Urban Warriors host them for the weekend’s round of league fixtures.
Amakhosi dropped down to fifth place on the Absa Premiership table following their midweek 1-1 draw with University of Pretoria, and the defending league champions will be determined to get back to winning ways.
Do you agree with Mthembu? Could Chiefs have done more to win the cup or where Ajax just the better team on the day?
