Chiefs Striker’s R1.8m Wages Jeopardise Move
The future of Kaizer Chiefs striker, Siphelele Mthembu, remains in the balance as the latest club interested in him was put off by his wages at Naturena.
Mthembu, who has five goals in 41 games for Chiefs, was put on the club’s transfer list at the start of the season as they looked to get back to winning ways, however, as yet he has not managed to move on.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Free State Stars were very interested in bringing Mthembu on board to bolster their strike force following the departure of several players, but were put off by his R150,000 per month salary.
It remains to be seen whether any club in South Africa will be willing to pay R1.8m per year to land the 29-year-old, otherwise the Amakhosi may have to agree on a loan move that sees them split the costs rather than keep him on with no intention of playing him.
