Kaizer Chiefs striker, Siphelele Mthembu, will be looking to open his account against Ajax Cape Town this weekend.
Mthembu has made seven appearances in all competitions but is yet to open his account for the Amakhosi this season.
The 28-year-old has however been used as more of a hold up player with his back to goal this season and has come up with two assists in the process.
With the pressure mounting on the Amakhosi’s strikers to find the back of the net Mthembu remains happy with the contribution they have made to the team in other aspects of the game.
“The confidence is high. The team is doing well and it is because everyone in the team is doing well,” Mthembu told Soccer Laduma.
“When you contribute to the success of the team, it doesn’t matter much even if you don’t score, as long as you know that you are doing what the coach wants you to do.”
“It’s more about the team than an individual,” he concluded.
Who would be your preferred option up front for Chiefs this weekend? Do you think Steve Komphela will stick with Mthembu or go with Camaldine Abraw, as he did in midweek?
