Kaizer Chiefs striker Siphelele Mthembu has indicated that coach, Steve Komphela, wants him to be the ‘top man’ in the team.
Mthembu is yet to open his goalscoring account for the Amakhosi this season, but has bagged two assists in his six starts for Komphela’s outfit.
Thus far, the 28-year-old has been used in a role that has seen him play with his back to goal and hold up the ball as he is very strong and good at muscling defenders off the ball.
Mthembu explained what Komphela expects of the striker for the 2015/16 campaign.
“He has said that he wants me to be the top man. He wants me to hold the ball up for the other strikers or even the midfielders to join in the attack," he told Soccer Laduma.
“He has told me to help find the ball and create chances for the other players, but at the same time score goals for the team,” he concluded.
Do you think that Chiefs need a player to take this role or do you think they need an out and out goalscorer?
