Former Kaizer Chiefs and Dynamos midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane is hoping to make a return to the PSL next season, after having gone on trial at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
The flamboyant midfielder was given a chance to train with AmaZayoni for two months before the season ended, with the hope of earning a contract. Clive Barker is a known fan of skilful players who have been written off in the game, and so the 31-year-old Sikhakhane is hoping that they will sign him as they prepare for their second season in the PSL. ‘Skhaks’, as he is affectionately called, was last on the books of Wits, where he failed to make an impact after joining from Bloemfontein Celtic.
He told the Siya crew, “Yes, I had a two-month training stint with Aces, but we didn’t talk. The technical team was, however, very impressed with me. When the season ended, they called me and spoke to me. They said they are going to engage further with management, so I’m expecting to hear from them anytime from now, as they will be reporting for preseason soon."
"Maar, ndoda, ngispanile laphaya (But, man, I worked very hard there) and everyone was impressed. The players also gave me a warm welcome, which made things easier for them. I’m keeping fit by training on my own during the offseason, so that I start the season in top gear,” continued Sikhakhane.
The KwaMashu-born player made a name for himself at Dynamos, forming a deadly partnership with Sandile Ndlovu. He later attracted the interest of Kaizer Chiefs and went on to play for Bloemfontein Celtic and AmaZulu, and maintains that he still has a lot to offer in the game.
