Sifiso Hlanti is expected to have a decision made about his immediate future at Bidvest Wits in the coming weeks.
Hlanti has been heavily linked with a move abroad and following his performances in the Africa Cup Of Nations campaign, there’s no doubt that potential interested suitors were keeping a close eye on him.
Russian giants, Lokomotiv Moscow and clubs from the United Arab Emirates and the Major League Soccer have been showing keen interest in the left-back.
However, the 29-year-old has also been linked with a move locally, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs having previously shown interest in his services.
In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, among other things, the player explained that he would have loved to don the Amakhosi black and gold colours, however, in an unfortunate turn of events, the deal did not materialise.
“I really cannot tell you what happened. At the time, name ngangithi izokwenzeka (I thought it was going to happen), but it never happened. I couldn’t let it put me down. I just told myself that I was playing for a big team already in Wits, so there was no need for me to worry. And I play a big role in my team. Maybe one day kuyokwenzeka (it will happen), but so far, a lot is going well for me. I am happy that Wits have been treating me well all these years. Yes, I would have loved to join Chiefs, but it never happened,” Hlanti said.
