South African midfielder, Sibusiso Vilakazi, made his first appearance for Brondby’s reserve side during a reserve league game against Viborg.
Vilakazi was one of four South Africans in the reserve team alongside Brondby regular, Lebogang Phiri, as well as on trial youngsters, Chaz Williams and Yusuf Jappie.
However, while ‘The General’ was able to get his first run out in Denmark, he was unable to affect the result as Brondby’s side went on to lose 3-1 to their opponents.
It was reported yesterday that the 24-year-old will undergo a week long trial with the Danish side before returning to Mzansi and waiting to hear whether they would like to offer him a deal or not.
Vilakazi’s trip to Denmark will have been made easier by the presence of Phiri, who also came through the Wits academy before signing a long-term deal with Brondby last year.
