Following his Man of the Match performance at right-back for Kaizer Chiefs, should Josta Dladla be handed another start tomorrow?
The experienced veteran was chosen to take the place of Siboniso Gaxa, the regular full-back who is recovering from injury. Dladla went on to put in an excellent shift in the 2-1 win over Platinum Stars.
Speaking to the club's official website 'JD' said, "When you get a chance to play after a long wait, it becomes a 'make or break' kind of a situation. I had not played a game for a long time before coming on as a substitute against Bloemfontein Celtic in the midweek game.
"Experience means nothing without hard work. If you are lazy then experience will find its place on the shelf. You have to be hungry enough to stay in the game."
Meanwhile, when asked how he found it taking over at full-back from Gaxa, who was being rested, he said, “It is not about the position. It is about how well you played and how that influenced the results.
“There are no excuses as a professional, when you get a chance you must grab it with both hands. If the Coach brings you on after two to three months, you can't be scared, you have to prove your worth to the team.
“If you do badly it will validate the reasons why you never get a chance to play. If you look at the starting line-up against Platinum Stars last night, most of the players showed hunger because they wanted to showcase that they are part of the Team despite only starting in a few games."
It remains to be seen as to whether the 34-year-old will retain his place in Stuart Baxter’s starting XI when the Glamour Boys take on Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium tomorrow, although his fine performance certainly put his name forward.
Do you think he should get another chance to start?
