Jabulani Shongwe is still at Mamelodi Sundowns, despite Wits’ attempt to get the player to Braamfontein in this transfer window.
Shongwe signed a pre-contract with Wits, as was revealed by Soccer-Laduma last week.
The Students have been communicating with Sundowns for the player’s early release so that he can begin his career with Gavin Hunt’s side immediately.
According to a source close to the talks, the parties are still hoping to reach an agreement on the matter before the end of the month.
“There is still no conclusion on the issue because Sundowns’ officials have been busy. The boy is at Sundowns,” said the source.
Shongwe had broken into the starting line up at Sundowns before his decision to sign with Wits.
The 23-year-old made five consecutive starts for Pitso Mosimane’s side, during the team’s last few games of 2013 in November and December respectively.
