Wits have made one of the major signings by the club by signing Jabulani Shongwe from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The talented player was expected to sign a new contract with Sundowns before he made the decision to sign for Wits.
The player’s agent Jazzman Mahlakgane previously told the Siya crew that he was confident that Shongwe would sign a new contract with Sundowns to extend his stay in Chloorkop.
However, Mhlakgane has since confirmed that the player has signed a deal that would see him turn out for Gavin Hunt’s side in the near future.
“The contract has been finalised. What is happening at the moment is that I think Jose (Ferreira) is talking to Sundowns for the player’s early release so that they don’t wait until July. They want to get him now. But I can’t get involved in the discussions involving the two clubs. They will let me know when they are done. We can’t disclose the details of the length of the contract until the two clubs have finalised everything,” said Mahlakgane.
Shongwe was with with Bafana Bafana in Cape Town during the team’s participation in the African Nations Championship (CHAN), but was later replaced by Matthew Pattison after injuring his groin in practice game.
