Jabulani Shongwe will in all likelihood make a move from Mamelodi Sundowns to Wits before the transfer window deadline later this afternoon.
Soccer Laduma revealed last week already that Shongwe signed a pre-contract with Wits. The Students have been in negotiations with the Brazilians for the player’s early release.
According to a source close to the talks, Wits are succeeding in getting the player now although Sundowns are believed to be interested in making the move a loan deal at this stage.
“It’s coming alright and the parties are talking about a loan deal. I think the idea behind it is for the player not to play against Sundowns,” said the source.
Wits and Sundowns have a league game lined up for March 1 at the Bidvest Stadium. Pitso Mosimane’s side won the first round tie 2-1 when the two sides came against each other at the Loftus Stadium in September.
