South African-born Tiyiselani Shipalane is making waves for Carolina Railhawks in the USA.
The skilful winger joined the club in 2010, but after experiencing tough times, he returned home and featured for University of Pretoria when they still campaigning in the National First Division. After only one season at Tuks, he went back to Carolina Railhawks and has not looked back ever since.
The Tzaneen-born player has established his name in the league with his blazing speed and ankle breaking step-overs and recently signed a lenghty contract extension with the side.
The club’s head coach Colin Clarke was quoted as saying, “Tiyi has been an integral piece in the Railhawks success on and off the field. Through his hard work he has become one of the most exciting soccer players in America. I know our fans will be excited to see him and the team return to the field in Spring 2014.”
Shipalane has become somewhat of a fan favourite in the USA and his popularity grew on May 29, 2012 when he scored the equalizer and provided the assist for the game-winning goal against LA Galaxy.
