Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala could miss the Amakhosi’s Telkom Knockout clash with Polokwane City after picking up a knock in training.
The type of injury that ‘Shabba’ has sustained is as yet unknown, as is the extent of it, although it may be that coach Stuart Baxter will opt to rest him when Chiefs begin their TKO campaign this weekend.
The 29-year-old has been a regular in Baxter’s line-up since he took over at the club and his absence will no doubt be a blow to his plans should he have to leave him out of the squad.
It remains to be seen whether Tshabalala will feature in the game this weekend, but if he doesn’t, it could be George Lebese who comes in to fill the space vacated by him.
City host the Glamour Boys at Peter Mokaba Stadium at 20h15 on Saturday night as they attempt to make it through to the next round of the tournament, following their disappointing exit from the MTN8 last month.
