Ajax Amsterdam’s South African midfielder, Thulani Serero, will miss their Eredivisie game against Go Ahead Eagles due to his shoulder injury.
It was reported this week that the midfield man may face a spell on the sidelines after he was substituted 40 minutes into the club’s game against Volendam in the KNVB Cup, but it was uncertain how long he would be out for.
Having been assessed by the club, they have confirmed that he will miss this weekend’s game but they haven’t revealed the full extent of his injury.
A statement on the Ajax official website said, “Thulani Serero will not play on Saturday against Go Ahead Eagles. On Wednesday, against FC Volendam, the player was taken off with a bruise on his shoulder. The duel with the club from Deventer comes a little too early for the South African.” (Translated)
Following the departure of Christian Eriksen to Tottenham Hotspur, Serero will be hoping to make the number 10 position at the club his own, a hope that will have been dented by his latest injury blow.
Serero was recently caught in the midst of a club versus country row when he was sent home from a Bafana Bafana camp after picking up an injury.
