News reaching the Siya crew is that Ajax Cape Town are eyeing a move for Scotland international Andy Webster.
The 31-year-old sees his current contract at the Scottish Premier League side come to an end this season and although he has been offered a new contract at the club, he has yet to make a decision.
Soccer-Laduma has now heard, through his agent Rob Moore, that the Urban Warriors are one of the clubs interested in signing the player.
"We are talking to Ajax. They need a centre-back and their first choice is Clayton Daniels, but Mamelodi Sundowns don't seem to want to do the deal," he said.
"So we are looking to do a deal for Webster with Ajax."
Ajax CEO George Comitis confirmed to the Siya crew that they are in need of a centre-back, and admitted that Webster is a possibly solution.
"We are targetting a centre-back and we'd love Daniels back from Sundowns, but that doesn't look like it could happen," he said.
"And yes, we are talking to Rob about Webster. He has a great CV, so let's see. Bottom line is that we need a centre-back."
